Sikh American float 2016

Sikh American Journey - II

The float depicted Vaisakhi- which is the harvest celebration in Punjab, India in the month of April. The goal of the theme is to continue fostering more public understanding about the Sikh culture and its positive contributions to American society.

The float showcased an observant Sikh man with a beard and a bright yellow turban, sitting atop a white horse, on his way to participate in Vaisakhi festivities. The float also featured cultural games, an ethnic bazaar, various embroideries, foods, along with two peacocks, which is the state bird of Punjab. Various Sikh families rode the parade with pride.

The dancers along side the float dancing to the infectious beats of bhangra music brought audiences to their feet.
